Meet the Team

Welcome to DermaVision! We take pride in the collaborative efforts of our dedicated team. Comprised of passionate individuals from diverse backgrounds, our team brings together expertise in biomedical engineering, computer-aided design, and biophotonics.

With a shared commitment to excellence, innovation, and customer satisfaction, we work tirelessly to develop the best solutions to address racial bias in forensic imaging technology and to establish a systematic and quantitative approach to estimating time of injury determination.

Together, we strive to push the boundaries of forensic imaging and legal medicine, making a positive impact on underrepresented populations by providing law enforcement agencies with a forensic imaging tool that not only serves their needs but also promotes fairness in forensic imaging practices.

Our Team

Mitchell Frazeur

When Mitchell isn't tinkering with the DermaVision device and its software he's aiding with investigations of the effects of temporal DNA methylation dynamics on cell fate transitions over at the Downing Lab at the CIRC on campus. He enjoys solving biomedical problems with both hardware and biologic solutions and everything in between. Outside of academics he loves seeing the latest movies (big or small), is currently an A24 Films member, and likely has several article tabs open in and outside the biomedical field. After graduation he plans to continue with development of the DermaVision device and seeks a career in R&D of tissue scaffolds for regenerative medicine.

Ashley Im

Ashley is a fourth-year biomedical engineer, who's working with the algorithm and data analysis side of DermaVison. She deeply wants to improve current social disparities, whether it is in medicine or in areas outside of the sciences. As a result, Ashley closely works with her teammates, friends, and mentors in projects that ensure a better quality of life for everyone, no matter who or where they are. When she's not advocating for change, she likes to spend her time doing more slow-paced hobbies like knitting, sudoku puzzles, and taking care of her aquarium.

Hao Ngo

Hao is passionate about using his knowledge to make a difference in people's lives. He believe this project is crucial, especially in cases of sexual assault or domestic abuse, where accurately assessing injuries is essential for justice. Beyond academia, he is immersing himself in music, simultaneously learning bass guitar and drawing from their past experience playing drums. Each beat and chord progression offers a harmonious escape, fostering creativity and balance in his life. Committed to continuous learning and collaboration, he eagerly works with DermaVision to develop innovative, inclusive solutions that are accessible to all.

Alejandra Reyes

As a fourth-year student majoring in Biomedical Engineering with a concentration in biophotonics, Alejandra is deeply committed to promoting healthcare equality. Drawing from her comprehensive biomedical training at UCI, she is dedicated to developing technology that improves bruise assessment techniques for individuals with hyper-melanated skin tones, particularly victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and other violence-related incidents. As a domestic violence survivor, her personal experiences fuel her passion for advancing healthcare equality. She is unwavering in her commitment to leveraging her skills for the benefit of marginalized populations.
